The mix lasts 27 minutes. The names enlisted below are probably well-known among the fans of the music encompassing brass instruments as you can see some real jazz legends in here, with the exception of Mattia Cigalini, a young and promising Italian saxophonist born in 1989. I’d say he’s worth keeping an eye on. Do not get misleaded by the list: the dates given are those of reeditions.
'I’ve just moved to Warsaw and I thought I need a soundtrack reflecting what surrounds me now. There are no boom-pow-experimental jazz tracks in this particular mix, it’s rather one of those you can listen to while exploring countless streets, nooks and crannies of a big city on an autumn evening, hence Warsaw’s Palace of Culture and Science on the cover created by Mr. Jayes' - Master's Voice.

Footprints 18 - Joteff presents Wandering Constellations

“Wandering Constellations” is basically a trip throughout the music of the seventies. Jacek Furtak has skillfully mixed broadly-defined Polish jazz and funk music along with different sounds coming from various places on the map of Europe. The mix is also enriched with some new tracks from labels such as Strut or Now-Again. Let us take a look at the author himself: Joteff is a promoter, record collector and a DJ, previously co-responsible for Basmentalism Poland project. He’s been publishing in magazines such as Klan Magazyn, Hiro, Hip Hop Magazyn, Polska The Times. Once having his broadcast in Warsaw’s Jazz Radio, now he’s engaged in a sociomusical project called Jazzmentalism. Here’s a short manual from Jacek: “I suggest taking a seat in a comfy armchair, along with a bottle of red wine, and listen…”

Diggin Europe: The Mission 60'-80'” mix is a collage of European recordings dating from 1960-1980, oscillating between such genres as Jazz, Big Beat, Funk, Electronic, Psychedelic and Rock music. Unlike two previous mixes containing some recordings of Polish artists signed with Muza Polskie Nagrania and Pronit, this one joins musical pieces of European artists from Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Russia, Romania, Portugal, France. The 68 pieces used in the mix were carefully selected out of nearly one thousand vinyl records released in the Old Continent over the decades. The author of volume 13, a turntablist straight out of Kielce being a Displace Image Crew member goes by the name of Master’s Voice and is the winner in "Freestyle" category in 2007 Skrecz.com Battle. Marcin Lisowski (Master’s Voice) is also in charge of keeping up the Tablism.com project, the successor of a legendary Polish turntablism-oriented site, Skrecz.com. Mr. Jayes is the one responsible for the cover of the 13th Footprints episode. When it comes to the sound, despite the fact that Master’s Voice has compiled various pieces performed by an orchestra or bigger bands as well as by small jazz combos, the concept seems to oscillate around big band style, enclosing the past 30 years of jazz music into a merely 30-minute set. footprints-jazz.blogspot.com

Exactly 4 years ago in spring, 2005 the first Footprints mixtape appeared. During these years a lot of material promoting the music of the 1960s and the 1970s came out. The time for an aniversary mixtape has come. Matam rather left "keeping legends alive" idea - digging through pretty large amount of net-labels not only from Poland. In this almost one-hour set we can find tunes from many labels such as: Budabeats, Estrada Nagrania, Dirty Birdexx, Bump Foot, Moon Label, Humanworkshop, 16 Wersów, Test Tube or Tokyo Down. Matam completed the mix with dialogues form Jovita movie (1967) by Janusz Morgernstern so the whole thing refers to Polish PRL culture promotion. The author of the cover is a legendary RSO196.
