Netlabels and turntablism – two seemingly very fresh notions, yet without them for some guys our world would appear unbearably miserable. Matam and Master’s Voice – the authors’ of the Good Netlabels third compilation - definitely belong to these people. You may know the first gentleman from goodnetlabels.blogspot.com, and the other one, as he admits, is the most useless but still third element of tablism.com, famous European scratch board.

Not so long ago mixtapes were rather a peculiar sign of modernity. Nowadays, tapes became a synonym of the past. At the end of the first decade of the 21st century, Matam and Master’s Voice approached this invention as they should in the present- day. Breaking the schemes, they’ve made a mixtape together, and their collaboration was based only on contacts via the internet. Thanks to that, we’ve received a unique mix full of netlabel’s Nu- Jazz, Downtempo, Hip- Hop, and some pleasant, quality scratches.

Footprints 10 - For Human

Exactly 4 years ago in spring, 2005 the first Footprints mixtape appeared. During these years a lot of material promoting the music of the 1960s and the 1970s came out. The time for an aniversary mixtape has come. Matam rather left "keeping legends alive" idea - digging through pretty large amount of net-labels not only from Poland. In this almost one-hour set we can find tunes from many labels such as: Budabeats, Estrada Nagrania, Dirty Birdexx, Bump Foot, Moon Label, Humanworkshop, 16 Wersów, Test Tube or Tokyo Down. Matam completed the mix with dialogues form Jovita movie (1967) by Janusz Morgernstern so the whole thing refers to Polish PRL culture promotion. The author of the cover is a legendary RSO196. Matam is the author of the next release from the series of Good Netlabels sets. The style of the content has changed a bit in comparison with the previous mix. This time a more aggresive, trip-hop oriented music prevails, though there is also plenty of nu-jazz bits and sounds bordering on hip-hop and electronic. In this 47 minutes long set Matam has stirred 15 excellent tracks from the world's undergound of contemporary music.
Special thanks go to blondas, a skilled Polish photographer who has done the cover art for this work. Many thanks also go to: nowa muzyka, 80bpm, vombat radio, independent and mixotic.
