Netlabels and turntablism – two seemingly very fresh notions, yet without them for some guys our world would appear unbearably miserable. Matam and Master’s Voice – the authors’ of the Good Netlabels third compilation - definitely belong to these people. You may know the first gentleman from goodnetlabels.blogspot.com, and the other one, as he admits, is the most useless but still third element of tablism.com, famous European scratch board.

Not so long ago mixtapes were rather a peculiar sign of modernity. Nowadays, tapes became a synonym of the past. At the end of the first decade of the 21st century, Matam and Master’s Voice approached this invention as they should in the present- day. Breaking the schemes, they’ve made a mixtape together, and their collaboration was based only on contacts via the internet. Thanks to that, we’ve received a unique mix full of netlabel’s Nu- Jazz, Downtempo, Hip- Hop, and some pleasant, quality scratches.

The author of volume 13, a turntablist straight out of Kielce being a Displace Image Crew member goes by the name of Master’s Voice and is the winner in "Freestyle" category in 2007 Skrecz.com Battle. Marcin Lisowski (Master’s Voice) is also in charge of keeping up the Tablism.com project, the successor of a legendary Polish turntablism-oriented site, Skrecz.com. Mr. Jayes is the one responsible for the cover of the 13th Footprints episode. When it comes to the sound, despite the fact that Master’s Voice has compiled various pieces performed by an orchestra or bigger bands as well as by small jazz combos, the concept seems to oscillate around big band style, enclosing the past 30 years of jazz music into a merely 30-minute set. footprints-jazz.blogspot.com

Footprints 19 - Original Jazz Compositions

The mix lasts 27 minutes. The names enlisted below are probably well-known among the fans of the music encompassing brass instruments as you can see some real jazz legends in here, with the exception of Mattia Cigalini, a young and promising Italian saxophonist born in 1989. I’d say he’s worth keeping an eye on. Do not get misleaded by the list: the dates given are those of reeditions.
'I’ve just moved to Warsaw and I thought I need a soundtrack reflecting what surrounds me now. There are no boom-pow-experimental jazz tracks in this particular mix, it’s rather one of those you can listen to while exploring countless streets, nooks and crannies of a big city on an autumn evening, hence Warsaw’s Palace of Culture and Science on the cover created by Mr. Jayes' - Master's Voice.

One of the most popular netlabels blogs is celebrating its 3rd birthday! Yet, this jubilee is so different because instead of receiving presents we decided to give away one – the freshest compilation from the goodnetlabels.blogspot.com. Consistent notes devoted to nu- jazz, hip- hop and downtempo sounds – that’s what attracts our readers, but it’s hard to treat this blog just like another average music diary. Especially when the author, Matam, once in a while provides you with some mixes and compilations made by himself.
